Comments: Bosnian pine, is native to mountainous areas of the Balkans and southern Italy. In its native habitat, it grows to 60-90' tall, but in cultivation, it typically grows to 30-40' tall. Glossy, dark green needles in bundles for two with a persistent sheath, 1-4” long, 1.5-2mm thick. Cones are 2-4” long with thin scales, dark blue-purple, maturing to brown 16-18 months after pollination.
Best grown in moist, well-drained loams in full sun. Tolerant of a wide range of soils, including both sandy and clay soils. Avoid poorly-drained wet soils. Prefers cool summer climates.
