Comments: Sonoma is an interesting and magnificent cultivar of dove-tree selected for its ability to flower at a younger age than the species, only 2 years, as opposed to 10-20 years. Wonderful white handkerchief bracts, to 7” long, May-June. This elegant 20-40' tree provides four-season interest; spectacular in early summer when in bloom, pretty in summer with its lush leaves. Autumn brings somewhat variable fall color. Stunning again in winter with its cinnamon colored bark; a truly remarkable tree.
Best grown in well-drained soils, but will tolerate sandy or clay soil with adequate drainage. Site in full sun to light shade for best bloom development. Occasional summer watering is needed, especially during extended dry weather.
