Comments:
Pitch pine is one of only a few pines which can regrow fromt eh trunk if the top is damaged. Often clumps of needle can be seen growing directly from the trunk.
Though not a major source of timber due to the poor growth of the tree the wood is rot resistent due to the large amount of resin in the tree.
